    UNITED

  • Who is your employment spokesperson?
    John Robertson

  • What are your employment policies?
Our policies start with a well trained and educated population. Economic policies must then encourage growth and a competitive, market based productive sector. Specific employment policies must target assistance to those medium to long term unemployed.

  • What employment initiatives will your government take?
Our initiatives will be community focused and/or emphasise skill acquisition.

  • How will you encourage local government to be active in solving unemployment?
Community involvement is critical to the success of specific employment programmes. Local Government or local community involvement will be encouraged.

  • Will you make any changes or additions to NZES programmes?
Programmes need to be tied to employers better. Training for pre-determined employment will be encouraged.
Subsidised work programmes for long term unemployed will be encouraged as long as these do not discourage employers from taking on those without an attachment to such programmes.

  • Will you make any changes or additions to ETSA programmes?
Much more focus on pre-determined employment outcomes will be encouraged.

  • What are you planning to do about welfare benefits?
United is generally satisfied with the benefit levels. United will set up community service centres to help long-term dependants.
