  • Trust wins media peace award

by Lisa McMullan, The Daily News 7 December 1999

A NEW PLYMOUTH trust has won a premier award in the Internet category of the 1999 Media Peace Awards.

Website designer and trustee Vivian Hutchinson said he was thrilled with the success.

The site is part of the city's Jobs Research Trust and provides information on projects, and thinking that is shaping the future of work-related education and economic issues.

It is used by people interested in creating jobs, work training or employment policies.

"We are based here in New Plymouth and yet half of the hits the site receives are from all around the world, not just New Zealand,' Mr Hutchinson said.

The peace award judges said the Jobs Research Trust website provided access to information, tools and ideas that would help communities create more jobs, reducing unemployment and poverty in New Zealand and the world.

The awards recognise work in the media that increases co-operation and tolerance.

    The website is at www.jobsletter.org.nz.
